Arbeidsgiver vil slette overtidstimer

Publisert: 10.12.2025

During a busy period and because a colleague was sick, I worked 243 hours in one month, even though my contract states 37.5 hours per week. My employer has now deleted some of my November hours from the time-tracking app and says he will pay them in December because he wants to retain me. I have already resigned due to the excessive workload, but he is still delaying payment of the extra hours. What can I do to ensure I am paid for all the hours I worked?

Svar:

If you have worked 243 hours in one month, you are generally entitled to be paid for all hours actually worked, including overtime. I recommend that you first collect all evidence you have (screenshots from the time‑tracking app, work schedules, messages from your employer, etc.) and then send a written claim to your employer asking for full payment of the missing hours by a clear deadline. If he still delays or refuses, you should contact a union, a legal aid service, or the legal aid service closest to where you live (provided by the Norwegian Bar Association, more info here: https://advokatenhjelperdeg.no/advokatvakten/) for help in pursuing your wage claim, and you can also consider reporting the matter to the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (Arbeidstilsynet).

Med vennlig hilsen, advokat Torbjørn Evjenth
