Har jeg rett på kompensasjon for ubrukte feriedager etter sykemelding og oppsigelse?

Publisert: 22.04.2025

I was a permanent employee at my company for 15 years and worked full-time from January to September 2024. However, I have been on sick leave since October 2024, which will continue until March 2025, when my employment with the company will be terminated. The company has paid me the holiday pay I earned in 2024, but what about the 25 days of holiday I accrued in 2024? Since I was on sick leave and unable to take any holidays in 2025, I assume the company should also compensate me for the unused holidays?

Svar:

No one "earnes" holidays. Holidays are imposed by law. No one is being paid for holidays, since you do not work at holidays - that is the nature of holidays... Holiday "pay" is not a compensation for work. The correct title is Holiday Money. The Holiday Money is your own money. It is a part of your payment for your work that is withheld by the employer until you take out your holidays according to law. This is to ensure that one is financially able to have a holiday to recover from work, which is socially and healthy. When your work is finished, you are obliged to have your "savings" paid from your employer, which you have received.
